Small-Scale Renewable Energy Technology to Support the Sustainability of a Food Security Village in Malang City

Nowadays, the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies is taking place worldwide. Every year, amount of installed increases dramatically. Many small-scale technologies have been developed, for example at household level, or environmental level as community-owned energy. This research focuses on development technology using resource potential and local community wisdom Glintung Water Street (GWS), a flood-prone area in Malang City. The objectives study were analyze water resources be developed energy, particularly under low flow conditions, investigate support program independence basis developing green economy strengthen GWS food security village. uses 2 types data, namely qualitative quantitative data. Qualitative data used deepen urgency alternative replace PLN electricity. Meanwhile, collection consisted measurement hydraulic characteristics source driving force wheel, response questionnaire instrument. results showed that minimum drive wheel conditions was 3 l/s. maximum RPM recorded during waterwheel operation 9 RPM, i.e. after it rained night before measurement, resulting voltage 20 Volt. However, higher generated by can reach 40 Volts. strongly supports although there are still doubts due limited knowledge experience applying technologies.
